Why I started Harris Contracting
Harris Contracting started in 2019, but my passion for construction started long before I opened the company. I earned my degree in Construction Management from Prairie View A&M University, and I’ve always enjoyed taking an idea, figuring out how to make it work, and watching it become something real.
What I love about this business is that what we build actually matters to people. A family may love their home but need more space. Someone may need an ADU for a parent or family member. Another family may have worked their entire lives for the opportunity to build their dream home. I want Harris Contracting to help people take those ideas and make them possible.
But my purpose goes beyond our clients. I want to build a company that takes care of the people who help build it. As Harris Contracting grows, I want it to create careers, opportunities and stability for our employees and the families who depend on them. I want the people who work here to be proud of what we’re building together and know that their contribution matters.
And at the center of my “why” is my daughter. She is a major reason I push myself to build something bigger. I want her to see what can come from hard work, perseverance and having the courage to build something of your own. I want to create something that lasts beyond me and that she can be proud of.
That’s ultimately what I want Harris Contracting to represent. We’re building more than additions and homes. We’re building better spaces for our clients, opportunities for our team, and a legacy for the next generation.

Meet Calvin Harris
Calvin Harris is the Founder and President of Harris Contracting, LLC, a South Florida construction company specializing in home additions, second-story additions, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and new home construction.
A Construction Management graduate of Prairie View A&M University, Calvin brings nearly two decades of construction-industry experience to every project. Since founding Harris Contracting in 2019, he has focused the company on professionally managed residential construction, clear communication, and accountable project delivery.
In addition to his State Certified General Contractor license, Calvin holds Florida contractor licenses in plumbing, air conditioning, roofing, underground utility and excavation, and solar contracting. This broad technical background helps Harris Contracting coordinate the many systems involved in complex residential construction.
